Joy Embodied
The farmer stopped his pickup truck just inside the pasture gate and leaned over to pop open the passenger door. The border collie burst out and ran huge looping circles on the hillside at full gallop, its long coat rippling in the wind, its ears pressed back, and I swear, it was smiling. Is there any joy more complete than that of a dog just released to have its way with its legs on the land?
