We hiked along Greenstone Ridge Trail to our first camp on the island at Lake Desor. The trail alternated between high and dry on the peaks of the ridge, where there were patches of exposed rock with amazing lichens and wildflowers growing in the sparse rocky soil and magnificent panoramic views, and the damp of the valleys, where there were sometimes boardwalks over the standing water with skunk cabbages and other wetland plants and ferns along the paths on the slopes under birches or maples or aspen. Breathtaking view followed stunning beauty followed awe-inspiring vistas.
